| New to MCPS and large schools and have a question about yearbooks. Do they even have a picture of my child if he is not a star in a show or sports team? If not, I would rather not order it. |
| Yes, if they had their picture taken on school picture day. |
|
We bought a yearbook and aside from the class picture, there were no pictures of him anywhere. If your child is in clubs or activities, you might find pictures throughout.
|
| BCC’s yearbook was terrible. Only a few club photos, no team sport group photos. Popular kids and yearbook staff extremely well represented. |
Well, that's untrue. Every person in every grade is included in the yearbook, plus moments from clubs, games, pep rallies, etc. |
| It depends on the school. Ours are over $100. Our kids don't care so we aren't getting them. That's too much. |
My kid doesn’t care about them but I’m going to just get his senior year whether he likes it or not
|
| It's kinda sad...yearbooks used to be the highlight of the year. Everyone looked forward to getting them and getting them signed. |
| Yes, and they also have pix that have been taken in random places throughout the year, like in classrooms. |
This. I only purchased the senior year yearbook. Damn thing is over $100
|
| My kid is a freshman so I haven't seen a high school yearbook yet, but I see instragram notices that the yearbook committee wants kids to submit pictures. Encourage your kids to submit them, if you're worried about inclusion. |
It’s absolutely true. My high school yearbook had group photos of every club and sports team plus random pics in those clubs or sports. BCC had no team or club group photos. I had 2 kids in sports and clubs and their only photo was the individual one. |
| Last year, Sherwood’s yearbook was a two books with a main large book, and a supplemental part. It wasn’t any good. Is this how all of the yearbooks are like now? |
| This is another one of those things that requires extremely dedicated staff members to work their fingers to the bone for pennies in order to generate a terrific product. Staff members are so burnt out and fed up with mcps that these people are becoming fewer nowadays. |
|
Ours has lots of group pictures of all kinds of random clubs.
My kid is a ham and just sat around joining any photo she had a friend in. The friends all encouraged it because most kids don't show up for club photos, and they wanted their clubs to look bigger. Win-win. (But the group photos are so tiny you can barely recognize her.) |
