lawn care noise

The lawn care noise when you stay at home is insane! Why does everyone have to use such LOUD leaf blowers? Why? Also, why do I interpret these noises as aggression? They grate on the ears so badly.

And sorry I don’t know how to explain your mental illness.

The leaf blowers are bad, but it's getting to the end of leaf blowing "season" so it will be more quiet soon.

So get a job?

Why do you assume they only happen at home. Our corporate landscapers mow and blow weekly. Sometimes more often than that, and they take a very long time.

1. head phones
2. better insulation
3. white noise

There's a recent thread about this

Its terrible and getting worse as more people hire out their lawn care. Also, the lawn services think its okay to blow the leaves in the street, other people's yards and other people's woods. Its not okay.

+1 it's much worse in some office parks.
It's annoying when neighbors get weekly lawn service because it's loud, dusty and messy.

Sympathy for you, OP. I hate it too. Especially when it's so unnecessary, and even environmentally harmful.

I think it must be at a pitch that is similar to pickleball. It's driving people crazy. Also the leaf blowers go on and on and on so it's a bit of a mental "they really must be done now" but they're not....

"Another study coming out of Finland in 2004 examined the tonal components of nine leaf blowers and found that the low frequency sound coming from them can penetrate outside walls and is not tolerated well by humans."

Glad DC banned gas powered leaf blowers. When I used to walk through kalorama for the beautiful leaves and scenic homes, I was struck by how the neighborhood was completely ruined by lawn crews. It was so unpleasant, what’s the point of living somewhere beautiful when it’s made so unpleasant?

Agree with you OP. 100 percent. You can try to get gas blowers banned in your municipality.

We rake. Ourselves. It doesn't hurt the environment with gas pollution or use electricity. It doesn't make much noise. It's good exercise. And we have a quiet electric mower that works fine and can barely be heard even inside our own house.

It doesn't have to be this way. And it's not healthy for the workers to have to breathe in that pollution, hear that noise, and carry that machine around on their backs.

I will take lawn care noise over pickleball noise every single day.
