Can an ECNL girl get recruited to a competitive D3 school if she's not an ECNL stand-out? Basically no soccer awards or recognition outside of being on the ENCL roster?
(Middle-of-the-road ECNL team--not a regional etc champ or anything), no individual ECNL accolades, no high school play (so no high school awards). Basically just 2-3 years of being rostered to ECNL? Can this kid get a RECRUITED soccer spot on a top 20 Liberal Arts College? (Coming from a competitive private with good grades). |
| Yes |
| Happens all the time |
| Very easily. |
| This is very common. |
| Would she need to be able to first get accepted to the school based solely on academics, or does soccer help her get accepted? |
| It’s not really recruiting to a school. The player would target the school. |

Depends.
How good is the player? How good is the college team? Take a look at the existing players on the team. Look at their individual stuff that is posted on the team website. Where did they play? What level? I would guess that a D3 coach would happily take a look at any kid who was coming to the school and was currently an ECNL player. Does that mean they will put them on the team? No. But, they absolutely will say come to pre-season camp and tryout. |
Wide range of programs among the top 20 LACs. Could be an attractive recruit to some and not to others. Best bet is to look at the rosters of schools she is interested in and whether she fits the profile of current team members. |
Soccer would help her get accepted IF the coach wants her on the team. |
Based on your description non P-4 D1 schools are in reach also but yes of course she can. Have to have good skills and have to impress the coach at ID camp. Does depend on the school though -- players for the top D3 high academics could probably have gone D1 but are using soccer to help admission. |
