Are Veronica Beard Dickeys worth the hype?

I’m confused because I feel like your jacket needs to be cleaned between wears and the jacket gets worn out faster with a Dickey. Also, you can never take the jacket off. Seems weird to me.

But I’m genuinely curious how and when people on this board wear them?

Do people on this board wear them? I feel like this board skews left and while I don't hate the look on it's face I think Kayleigh McEnany ruined them for me forever. That was her THING.

I have a jacket but would never actually wear a dickey with it. i have lightweight silk shells i can wear under for the same effect and yeah, take the jacket off or wear it open (it swings nicely).

How? She makes them so look good.

I have one and I’ve actually never worn it. I don’t know where I thought I would because I don’t go to the office.

Anyway though I don’t see why you couldn’t take it off. It’s not a state secret.

It’s like a girl version of the DeMatha look which is one of the only fashion things we’ve ever produced locally so seems like a weird thing to be mad about.

I have camisole dickeys that I wear with a couple of dresses that are too low cut for work, when it's too warm for a full extra layer.

Not mad, just confused. Thanks for explaining.

Why would anyone go to the office with a hoodie under their blazer?

I have one of the hoodie dickey's but like the PP, have never worn it. I got mine from The Real Real - they are insanely overpriced at retail prices. Even via TRR it seemed like a lot to pay for what it is. I got mine to try out under a VB coat and I think it looks cute but I just forget to put it on.

I like VB blazers and have one, but can't really see wearing the dickeys with it. Too fussy for my personal style. That said there are TON of different options from cashmere to faux leather; it's not just the sweatshirt-style hoodies.

these are really dumb. You need to be able to take off your jacket. So ugly.

I don’t understand the people who think you can’t take your jacket off. What? You understand you’re still supposed to wear a shirt, right???

I work in tech and I usually wear the hoodie dickey with my black blazer. Otherwise it’s too formal for a tech office. Makes me look like I wandered in from the legal department

Well my dickie is like a sweater but yeah, I think it kind of only makes sense outside. Someday I’ll go to a corporate wine tasting and it will be PERFECT for that. I do wear the blazer alone a lot, and I like the concept of the dickies.

I’m a knitter and I actually made a turtleneck dickie that doesn’t have zippers or anything and I love it. I wear it under a puffer basically in lieu of a scarf. I wouldn’t hesitate to take the coat off and take it off in front of people. It’s not like a shameful secret it’s just a piece of clothing with a small illusion element.
