Would you eat this: the absent-minded errand episode
I forgot I bought ground chicken at Safeway so I ran an errand before going home. Traveled by metro and on foot. All told, chicken was out about 1 hr. It’s the Tysons kind that is factory sealed (not store wrapped) if that matters. Can I eat it, or did I just waste $8? |
| Huh? I wouldn’t even think twice about eating it…you plan on cooking it, right? |
| Up to two hours at room temperature is fine, so you should be in the clear. |
| great, thank you both! I appreciate the advice! |
| I would post this in the health and medicine forum, cause that's where you're ending up... |

When I read the title, I thought this was going to be another “I left this out on the counter overnight. I can still eat it, right?” thread and I was prepared to scream at you.
But an hour in December? As long as you’re not pregnant, you’re good. |
| Was it in car or inside house? |
OP was outside. It’s fine. |
Is this a joke? |
| Hahaha, I left chicken out overnight in the sink, cooked it the next day and ate it. I was absolutely fine. |
| It was like 40 degrees out today. This isn’t the same having raw chicken unrefrigerated for a hour of errands on a 95 degree sunny day in August. |
