| Someone told me ECNL tryouts are in March. Weren't they once in May? Why the change, seems really early in the season. |
In VA, ECNL clubs cannot hold official tryouts/ID sessions open to other ECNL players prior to March 1st. |
ECNL/MLS Next tend to have their ID/tryout sessions in early March with follow-ups until early April. After that the rest of the clubs start tryouts for their teams that participate in other leagues at the beginning of May. I remember when everyone was late May/early June but now it's earlier and earlier. |
| VA is March 1. MD is May 1 |
| No cop, no stop. Tryout season is all year at NVA and VDA. |
Especially with FCV players all scrambling. |
| It got loved earlier last year |
| Aren't Super Y tryouts (some of which look like they are in January) a way to circumvent these ECNL tryout start dates? |
| Question about super y. We are thinking about putting our kid in super y this summer. I thought it was basically supplemental sunmer play but today is the final and it looks like several area clubs like VDA, Bethesda, Arlington, Mclean made the finals in there age groups. From the schedule these kids missed like 4 days of school and the parents took off work to go to Florida so is this a bigger event than I thought? |
No. Super Y really means nothing. |
| Any one who is taking off 4 days from school and missing work for Super Y need a reality check |
LOL true! |
one would think parents could see the obvious about Super Y: the nationals consist heavily of local teams and a few chicago teams. Basically no California teams etc. So pay extra $ for some extra training and play local teams in the summer so you can play more local teams in December and claim national "semifinalist" of winner or whatever and pay for a trip to Florida for the coach. paying someone to tell you their great because you're paying them not because they feel that way is the oldest profession in the world |
Super Y is a complete waste of time after u12, back to this comment thought, Is a super Y tyout in January a way to circumvent March/May 1? |
| I think Super Y is good for 2 age groups u11 because you get a jump on learning 9v9 and at u13 because of the same thing with a full size field other than that it’s a waste of time as others have said. I also think the teams do use the tryouts as a way to start the recruiting process early. Many teams only have tryouts for players from other clubs. |
