Shady Grover BCBS negotiated rates

Anonymous
Has anyone been able to find out the negotiated rate for IVF services at Shady Grove through BCBS? We are probably going to switch to BCBS so we can get IVF coverage and I presume the $25,000 limit will go further with a negotiated rate but our financial advisor there has not been particularly helpful with my specific questions. Thanks!

Maybe they don’t know yet. The plans go into effect after the first week of January.

That's what I've heard, but I wouldn't expect a deep discount. So maybe 2 cycle until you hit the max?

I have CareFirst. The rate my insurance pays shady grove is far lower than the cash pay. I just looked up my most recent egg retrieval. Insurance was billed $8700 but paid 2500. This of course was just for the actual surgery — anesthesia, drugs, and monitoring are separate

Why wouldn't you expect a discount? I ised UHG through work and the negotiated rates were very low aroun 2500 per egg retrieval - same as Care First above. I would expect BCBS to be in line.

I have United healthcare. Previously at SGF (first pregnancy in 2021) the negotiated rates were quite low and labs, anest, and other things were included under the IVF limit. I think my first pregnancy with 1 cycle was only around 2,500 of my limit. Now, (2023 pregnancy) for reasons I never really understood but they attributed to the Fertility Solutions package provided by Optum, my insurance was charged the cash rate of $10k per cycle. So it burned through the benefit max quite quickly.
