Buying first SUV - overwhelmed

Anonymous
Family of two adults and two teenagers. We live in DC. Have finally outgrown our sedan.

Starting the process and overwhelmed. We want a two-row SUV with good cargo space. We are used to a fairly good size trunk and we take roadtrips.

Any suggestions on where to start would be so welcome.

You live in DC and want an SUV? A small one, I suppose? Where will you park? Do you have a driveway and/or garage? If garage, what will fit?

Not knowing your price point, will mention my Subaru Outback fit the bill. Big cargo space in the back, comfortable seating, excellent road grip in snowy/wet conditions, decent mpg. It drove like a tank with slow pick up. But once it got going on the highway, you could find yourself going 80mpg without even realizing it. Cars last forever if you take care of them, with regular oil changes, etc.

Upper NW. street parking. But always easily available street parking.

I went through this a few years ago and settled on a Subaru Forrester. I love it.

When you say you want a two-row SUV, do you mean one that seats 7 people? Or a car like an Outback or Forrester that seats 5? They are pretty different vehicles (and price points).

Since no SUV fits 7 people in 2 rows, she obviously means 5 people. Or, as she said, 2 row. Two. Rows.
