where can we find reasonably priced apt or townhome with one car garage in/near arlington?

We are looking to move into a new two bedroom apartment and are at odds with one another. My DH refuses to live somewhere that does not have a private garage. He absolutely will not budge on this. A one car garage would be fine, like you'd find in a small townhouse. All of my friends are in N. Arlington and Georgetown and I do not want to live more than 15 minutes away. We also want to keep this under $2000. Doesn't have to be metro accessible. Does such a place exist? I have a friend in Clarendon with a townhome and a private garage but I know she pays through the roof.

ANY advice would be much appreciated. We both work in Tysons/McLean area so that is a factor too.

If you are really looking to purchase, you should at least tour garage townhomes and non-garage townhomes. You can get so much more living space sans garage.

No - we are not looking to purchase right now. Just rent. But the garage thing is a non-negotiable. Long story. We'd sacrifice living space for a garage.

I don't see it happening at that price.

Hyde Park on Henderson Rd in Arlington It is a condo but they have at least one garage space per unit and there are often rentals in the building. Rentals are low because the condo fee (paid by the landlord) is high. Rooms are big, they have a pool and a big park area that belongs to the building. You can walk to Ballston Metro, Harris Teeter next door, lots of parks.

There are townhouses around Ballston with garages, but I'm not sure how much they rent for. Probably not under $2,000. You're going to pay a rental premium anywhere walking distance to metro, I'd think. If you don't actually need metro, you might have better luck with a single family house slightly farther out, maybe Falls Church? you'd be close to work and still a quick drive to Arlington and DC except during rush hour. There are ramblers in Falls Church that have garages or carports. Or you can look in North Arlington farther away from metro, like North of Lee Highway between Rosslyn and Ballston. too far from metro to walk, so cheaper rents, and convenient to Old Dominion drive, which is a good commuting route to Tysons.

not for that price. If you're willing to go up to 3K, you can probably find even a SFH.
