Seeking feedback on elementary schools and kid-friendly areas in which to live. My husband accepted a job in the Germantown Town Center area--Have heard 'mixed reviews' about moving a family with small children in the area.
Thanks. |
Germantown really varies neighborhood to neighborhood as far as crime and school quality. I have friends whose kids go to Matsunaga and they are really happy.
http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schoolodex/schooloverview.aspx?s=02523 MCPS website has something called "schools at a glance," which gives various demographic and test score data. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/ The further west you are, in general, the better the schools. Northwest is generally considered a better high school than Seneca Valley. You can also check www.crimereports.com for neighborhood crime statistics. I'd try to look west of Clopper Rd. for a house. If you are open to living a bit outside of Germantown, North Potomac has good schools and low crime. And you can go north to Boyds or Clarksburg as well. Housing will be cheaper there as well. |
