Like subscribing to emails in 9th grade. And following on instagram. Low effort, useful for gathering info, but any downside at all?
no
Our student didn't start showing demonstrated interest until 10th grade. But to answer your question, I don't think there is a downside, aside from the time and effort your student puts in. Not all colleges use demonstrated interest and I'm guessing they only start caring when you combine the interest with visits and other more interactive activities.
I think the downside is that it can start the obsessing early. Ninth graders should be learning more about themselves, taking challenging classes, improving study habits, trying new activities, spending time with friends. Not trying to demonstrate interest.
Unless it’s a slac, likely not tracking interest anyway. That seems to have ended with the test optional onslaught of applications.
It looks too results focused instead of developing as a student.
+1. Stop the madness. |
Subscribing to emails and following on Instagram will have no impact, either way
