CNN: “I reported on Hamas in Gaza for over a decade. Here are the questions I’m asking now.”

A CNN journalist gives fascinating insights on her work over a decade. This is really useful information in trying to understand this conflict from every angle.

I am surprised this article is not front page on every news site.

Very good read. Hindsight is 20/20, but it's clear that the media needs to be more skeptical of Hamas's claims and basically treat them as gossip until they can be independently verified.

Hamas has a seemingly endless supply of useful idiots in the US.

One other problem is that for the past 20 years, Western media has basically reported on Hamas as if it was a political party, rather than a terror organization. It makes sense - the Western media tends to report through its own lens where political parties in representative democracies are the norm. It's easy to default to that posture.

But Gaza has never been a true representative democracy. And Hamas has always been a terror org first and foremost. It's like that element of the equation was forgotten by the journalists.

I don't see this as some big conspiracy by the media against Israel. But rather it speaks to the deftness of Hamas's propaganda strategy and the blinders with which journalists often operate, missing the forest for the trees.
