Au Pair Medical Question

Our AP most likely has bronchitis, the walk in clinics in network, aren't giving her antibiotics, and telling her to wait it out, but it's been several weeks, of feeling better then getting sick again...any tips here? At this point, she's considering having antibiotics shipped from her home country...

Why aren’t they giving her antibiotics? If they’re assuming it’s viral they won’t work so is that it?

Above PP again, I will add there is a horrible virus going around kids and adults with lots of lung congestion and coughing involved. My kid had it, it’s viral though; we did get a really good rx for cough medicine which did help but aside from that had to wait it out.

A lot of clinics won't provide them https://blog.mercy.com/why-you-may-not-get-antibiotics-at-your-urgent-care-visit/

See if she can get steroids. I get bronchitis once a year and prednisone is the only thing that makes it go away.

I had this virus with a horrible racous cough. I went to doctor and had no chest congestion as well as no fever. No antibiotics but took Robitussin every 8 hours and drank hot chamomile tea with honey to cut phlegm. It took over three weeks but it is finally gone. I also lost,8 lbs son there was a silver lining,! I also had flu, new variant Covid booster, and RSV because of pulmonary condition.

Unless there’s a bacterial infection, antibiotics will not do a thing. I’d assume it’s the awful viral cough that’s going around and they’re right not to give antibiotics
