What's appropriate? And what's good for one teacher who seemed really invested/helpful? |
I think there's already a thread on this by a disgruntled HS teacher. |
and what's the recommendation? |
STOP DON'T DO IT |
We are doing this. Why shouldn’t we? The letters are already in. |
I have a junior - thinking ahead and doing it for the teachers that my kid loves this year.
$50-200 restaurant gift cards |
Hmm. Not sure how I feel about this. |
Some homemade cookies and a $20 Dunkin’ gift card - I’m in. A $200 restaurant gift card - bribery and should be reported to principal. |
It was gently suggested to us to do a max of $50 (public school.) Anything more looks like bribery. |
My son just got accepted to his 1st choice school. He is writing a thank you note and giving a school pen to each of his recommenders. |
How would it look like a bribe? Unless the student said something to the effect of "can you write a letter of recommendation for me and my parents will make it worth your while"?
These thank you notes/gift cards are given after the letter has been written/essay read. How is it a bribe? |
My son just got accepted to his 1st choice school. He is writing a thank you note and giving a small generic boxed gift and a decent amount gift card, TBD. It's not bribery! |
That's WAY too much. And since your kid is a junior, it smells like bribery. |
MCPS limit is $20. There’s your max. |
No one wants a school pen. |
