What's appropriate? And what's good for one teacher who seemed really invested/helpful?

Some homemade cookies and a $20 Dunkin’ gift card - I’m in.

A $200 restaurant gift card - bribery and should be reported to principal.

It was gently suggested to us to do a max of $50 (public school.) Anything more looks like bribery.

My son just got accepted to his 1st choice school. He is writing a thank you note and giving a school pen to each of his recommenders.

How would it look like a bribe? Unless the student said something to the effect of "can you write a letter of recommendation for me and my parents will make it worth your while"?

These thank you notes/gift cards are given after the letter has been written/essay read. How is it a bribe?

My son just got accepted to his 1st choice school. He is writing a thank you note and giving a small generic boxed gift and a decent amount gift card, TBD. It's not bribery!

MCPS limit is $20. There’s your max.
