Let’s say it’s something where you’d rather them not find out what it is (in the event they accidentally open the package) and it’s just sitting there on their doorstep with your name clearly labeled.
Would you walk up and grab it? |
| It's your package? Of course you grab it. Why is this even a question? |
|
I would grab it. It's apparently legal for them to just keep your package if they bring it inside.
With my neighbors that I have a good relationship with, I have texted them that I saw my package on Amazon's picture at their front door and I grabbed it. I didn't want to show up on their door video cam and they wonder why I'm stealing a package. |
| Yes, grab it and if they have a door cam, I’d hold the package up to the camera and tell them it was misdelivered. |
| Yes. I do this all the time. If I get a delivery update with a photo of the neighbor's porch, I absolutely go and get my stuff. My neighbors understand. |
| I actually think it's ruder to leave it there. Then you're requiring your neighbors to come over to your house and redeliver it. |
| Absolutely, I had a package go to the same street number but the wrong street, just around the corner. I went by and rang the bell and they denied ever seeing it (or speaking English). I had the picture showing it on their doorstep. |
| Of course but out of courtesy you should text your neighbor so they're not startled or alarmed to see someone at their front doorstep. |
|
Yes, and I have. My neighbors are welcome to do the same if their packages end up on my porch! Sometimes I don't catch a package before my neighbor takes it in and opens it by mistake, in which case he brings it over and I thank him. Easy peasy. |
| During the pandemic a family member had an ice cream cake delivered to me, but it was left outside a neighbor's door. I just went and took it. That was three years ago and nothing's happened except I ate the cake. |
+1 |
| Unless they have a court order preventing you from trespassing on their property I can't imagine why you wouldn't go get your package. |
Um, what? |
You're gonna need a citation on that one, PP. |
This was me and my Blue Apron delivery. After getting the UPS delivered notice but not seeing it, I realized it was sitting on the porch 2 doors down. I had to move their other package off of it and then dramatically pointed that "this" is "mine" and "thank you", just in case they reviewed the video later. |
