I am not being glib. Just reading between the lines, I am getting the distinct impression that maintaining DCUM is becoming unsustainable for you on several fronts (finances, work-life balance) and I am genuinely curious what the risk is of you shutting down or selling or otherwise stepping away at this point?
Please level with us… |
| The new advertising arrangement has resolved the financial challenges. So, there is probably no fear of us making any major changes for the next few years, assuming the current ad performance holds up. |
| DP, good to hear! |
Op here. Glad to hear. You won’t hear me complaining about the ads and I wish others wouldn’t either. |
| Phew! |
| Yay! Does clicking on the ads help? |
Wow, really? That's good news for you! |
|
How to you generate ad revenue in this ad model? Simply having them there, or do we need to hover over the ad for a few seconds, or actually click on it?
I normally scroll right past any and all ads and never click on them pretty much on any website, but if it helps you would be willing to. |
+1 Easy enough to scroll by. |
Really? Wouldn't Jeff want to know though? I think user feedback is (almost) always a good thing. |
Please only click on ads in which you are actually interested. The best way you can help is to keep ads visible on your screen for as long as possible. "Visibility" of ads in an important metric for increasing revenue. |
I would like to know about ads that are causing problems, but not at all interested in the fact that some posters simply don't like ads. |
I leave my computer on with a DCUM page open when I go to bed, does that help? It's visible for many hours if you don't count the screensaver coming on. |
I honestly don't know if that helps or not. But, it couldn't hurt. Thanks! |

I don’t mind the ads, but….
On my IPad they block part of the screen. I’ve been getting ads for Pollo Campero near the Port Authority and I am not in NYC! |
