Im in my 30’s Called 911 for the first time ever call lasted 4 minutes |
|
What was the call for?
I've called 911 twice (to report a fire on a busy roadside, and for a man experiencing some kind of episode in the middle of a busy intersection). I've called the non-emergency number about 5 times. -42 |
| Slow work day? |
| What a weird cry for attention |
| And that’s a wrap. |
| You're cool |
| I’ve called 911 many, many times. But I’m not gonna do an AMA, sorry. |
| How long were you on hold? I had to call Sunday evening and it took 5 min before I had a live person on the phone. This was in DC |
| My toddler called 911 by mistake once. |
| Good for you, but this isn't particularly interesting. |
| OP, I’ll play. What was the emergency? How long did they take? |
h Oof this scares me |

First time ever??
I have called for a car I saw crash on the side of the highway, a fistfight outside of a bar, my neighbors non English speaking nanny telling me worriedly that the house smelled like gas/eggs, once when a man was passed out drunk on my porch, once when I saw a homeless man attacking a woman walking down the sidewalk, and once when my father was having chest pains. I didn’t think any of this was particularly AMA worthy and now I’m a little embarrassed to even be typing it all out , sorry |
That’s terrifying. I called 911 when my DH was having a massive heart attack. They answered right away, paramedics were at our house in about 6-7 minutes. Saved his life. If I had to be on hold first he wouldn’t be here today. |
Seriously? Unless a plane had just crashed on the mall I find this hard to believe ( 911 dispatcher for another jurisdiction that’s not DC) |
