Background Check Question

How far does an employment background check go back? An acquaintance, not me, had a DUI 14 years ago in MD and pled "probation before judgement". Will that show up? This is for a senior professional level position.

unlikely, but the answer to your question depends on what question is asked. there is no standard employment background check. If they ask for convictions in the past five years, then no. If they ask for arrests in the past 20 years, then yes.

I don't think a probation before judgement is a conviction so it may not show up on a background check but it will still show up on the MD Legal Case Finder. Not sure if a background check would access those records.
