I have two kids. One is in third grade and the other is in 4th grade. My 4th grader didn't get into AAP, but her little brother did. My 4th grader is begging to get into AAP. What tips do you have for appealing as a 4th grader? NNAT: 129 CoGAT: 130 GBRS: 3F 1C (might have been 2F 2C? I don't really remember) My daughter is at the top of her class, participates in sports and artistic extra curriculars, and got second place in Science Olympiad. My son's scores were notably higher (NNAT 147, CoGAT 152), but my daughter's scores are also good enough to get in. |
Apply again with the support of her teacher this year. Speak to the teacher about it ahead of applying. Is she in level III or advanced math? If she doesn’t get in first round then let her take the WIsC. |
Thank you! |
How were her 3rd grade SOLs? Also, did she get a very high VGA in the fall? Or maybe even the top in her grade? |
Is she doing Level 3 pull outs this year? I reapplied for my 4th grader and used a ton of samples from those lessons for the work samples I submitted. My guess is that those type of projects are more familiar to some of the evaluators, versus homemade examples. My child was accepted for grade 4. Good luck to you! |
3rd grade usually have projects and some are power points that you can print and use |
