DH and I helped a friend’s father with a home project, saving him thousands, and he insisted in paying us $500 as thanks. We refused the money but he insisted.
We’ve had a really stressful year and want to spend the money on something fun, but have no idea on what. So, give me fun ideas. What would you do with an extra $500? |
| Hookers and blow. |
| I would do a night in a nice hotel or b&b, maybe in Shenandoah or near the ocean, and just relax and indulge a little. |
|
I would use the ca$h & perhaps purchase something nice for your own home.
Or maybe try a mini-experience such as a wknd in a nice hotel, tickets to a popular show/concert or even a few fancy dinners at a restaurant you have been meaning to go to. Lucky you two! |

\ Do you have any bills to pay? Use the money for holiday gifts? There has to be something you need for your car? house? |
| you sound poor. So save the money. |
Not OP, but we've also had a stressful year and are not poor. Sometimes stress can rob one of ideas of joy and pleasure. Kudos to OP and her DH for saving someone a lot of money. Go for an experience if you can swing it. Hope 2024 is easier for you and your family. |

-Couples day spa retreat - massages, facials.
-Home gadget that will make your daily life easier |
| Buy 4 shares of Apple, Amazon or Google or similar |
| Massage, dinner, new sweater or shoes, power wash house, a few months of nice floral arrangements. What bring your joy? Do that. |

What do you like more - or what do you need more? Some free time/experiences or some stuff?
I know people say experiences over stuff - but stuff makes my life better on a daily basis, while experiences end. We got a cordless vacuum cleaner during the pandemic that I swear, every time I use it, I'm so glad I have it. I've bought some new clothes that make me happy to put on - that make dressing fun instead of a total chore. What will make you happy or relieved right now? I got an extra $500 earlier this year and put $100 into savings, and spent the rest on shoes and skincare. I regret nothing. |
| Honestly can’t get or do much for $500. |
| I would save it until you think of something *you* want to do with it. |
It's weird that $500 is a big deal to her. My back balance varies by thousands. I wouldn't notice 500. |
