I have been trying for months to book a dinner for New Years Eve at La Vie for my husband’s 50th. They told me to wait and email for reservations 30 days in advance. So December 1st, I emailed again. Now they are telling me the dining room is closed NYE and gave me a link to book an igloo. When I followed the link, there were sold out. I’m so frustrated as my husband loves La Vie and really wanted to dine there on his 50th.
We don’t get into DC often so I am not familiar with other good restaurants and would love recommendations. I am so upset. He’s a good guy - hard working and a committed husband and father and I just wanted to make this a special evening for him. |
| $13 for bottled water? |
| I’ve never been to La Vie but Del Mar is beautiful. |

NYE is the worst time to go out to dinner. A lot of the nice restaurants do overpriced prix fixe menus and service isn't always very good.
Is it possible to go sometime later in January? |
| May we suggest Ruth’s Chris? |
| Honestly you dodged a bullet. No restaurant is as good on a holiday as it is on another day. Usually a set menu that's not as good quality and they rush you more because of all the reservations. |
Good one |

This post reminded me of one of Sietsema's classic reviews. La Vie sits with Founding Farmers as one of the few restaurants to ever earn zero stars.

| Just pick a different restaurant it will be fine. |
| Del Mar is at the Wharf, is very good, fancy, and has reservations for NYE |
