The Bazaar - Jose Andres Restaurant

Anyone been here? It is $$$$ but is it worth it for the food and general experience. Would you take older kids - high school age?
Anonymous
Worth it for adults. I would not take a child or young adult.

It is not good imo

I was just there this week. I was not paying so I was able to enjoy the experience more but frankly I found it gimmicky and reminded me of food trends from 2007.

The building is stunning though, and I would go back with my husband for a cocktail now that we will allow ourselves to go given the change of ownership lol

I was there a few weeks ago. It wasn’t my favorite Jose Andres restaurant. I like Zaytinya a lot more.

Is Zaytinya still good? I used to like it but I haven’t been there in ages

I love it. I would take a high school age kid.

I really enjoyed it but it was priced a bit high. We did one of the set menus. A high school student who is into food would be fine there.

Has anyone tried the afternoon tea at the hotel the restaurant is in (Waldorf Astoria)?

I loved the food, and my HS kid would also love it. But, for the price, the service was very sub par. I should not have to flag down my waiter, sit with an empty glass most of the night etc etc.

With that said, I still think about the caprese salad months later. I would sit at the bar, order that for myself and enjoy.

I went with a large group on an expense account, which I think is the way to do it. It was a fun experience and there were some good /interesting dishes, but I wouldn't go back on my own (except as PP said, maybe to have a drink in the beautiful lobby). I much prefer Zaytinya.

Just know that the Bazaar DC is not as good as the Bazaar LA or even as good as Bazaar Miami. It is definitely the most boring and bland iteration of the Bazaar to date (prob good for catering to the midwest political transplants in this city). Why would you want to go to the third (or potential fourth) best iteration of a restaurant?
