About 1,500 kids, based on SOL Score reports. Maybe 25% but probably closer to 20% |
I thought there were like 12,000-14,000 students per grade. If 1500 take it, it would be more like 10-12%. |

I ran the SOL Numbers for 7th grade math SOLs last year. 7th grade math SOL numbers: 1,680 (Algebra 1), 26 (Geometry), 6,646 (Math 7), 4,587 (Math 8), under 50 took Algebra 2 SOL for a total of 12,939 SOL tests in 2023. That would be 7.7% of the kids taking Algebra 1 in 7th grade last year. |
I agree with the raw numbers you pulled down but the 7th grade Algebra 1 share is 13% (=1680/12939). This is the FCPS 2022-23 average; shares will vary across middle schools. For example, at Carson last year, roughly one third of 7th grade SOL takers took the Algebra 1 SOL. |
Thank you both |
Trying to run the above for Longfellow MS but only getting a total. Was trying to see pass rate too. Does it give that level of detail for individual schools? |
There is a box that lets you select what test scores you want to see. It is the last one in the form. |
The box is select statistics. |
I just looked at Carson’s, 1/3 of the kids in 7th grade take Algebra 1 in 7th grade. Running all of the MS’s, there are schools with 100 or so kids and a good number with 30 or less. I am guessing some of those 30 or less send kids to the Center schools. I was shocked at how few kids at Franklin took Algebra 1 in 7th grade.
The pass rate on the SOL is around 98%. |
