I am currently pregnant with my second. My first baby must have received 20+ knit blankets as gifts for her birth, but I’ve rarely used them. Now, blankets are starting to come in for baby #2. (I am not soliciting any gifts — MIL loves shopping at holiday fairs and these must be a common item.) I feel guilty giving most away as they’re beautiful but I just don’t want them all and don’t use them.
Before I give 90% of them away — is there some great use that parents are using these for that I’m not thinking of?? Will I regret getting rid of all these knit blankets at some point?? |

We got quite a few for our first DD, and several for our 2nd, as well. I kept the ones that were handmade by family members and eventually ended up giving away the rest.
One of my DDs is really into dolls and likes to use them when she plays pretend with her dolls. I also used them as covers in the stroller when outside on cool days, something for baby to lay on when spending time on the floor, that sort of thing. Never in the crib until they were closer to 18mo old. |

If people are hand knitting you blankets, ask for hats maybe but if they’re just buying them say thank you, use a few for strollers and the floor and pass them on as you’re ready.
All baby stuff moves on anyway. It’s okay to pass on a blanket like it’s okay to get rid of onesies. |
