Title says is all: Christians how do you deal with the evil you see every day? |
Be the source of good, help where you see help is needed, speak up for those who can’t or are in pain. Basically always ask yourself what would Jesus do? A memory that has always stuck with me from my very Christian maternal grandmother - we were visiting a new city and were walking past someone who was homeless and I must’ve said something cruel because she said to me you never know where you’ll see the face of god, god tests us everyday, and it’s our job to help those who need it. Maybe showing love and kindness to a homeless man stops him from committing an evil act out of desperation, you never know when god gives you the test, but when it appears ask yourself WWJD. Remember that hurt people hurt people. |
Not a Christian, but I follow Mr. Roger’s mother ‘s advice. I look for the helpers. |
Knowing that we have free will. If humans didn’t have free will, we’d be gods play toys. God gave us free will. Most people are good. Some are bad beyond our imaginations. Like many religions believe, there will be a reconciliation one day. What we’re seeing in the news isn’t the end
But yea the news is hard |
op, how do you deal with all the evil you see everyday? |
I used to think most people were good. Recently life has shown me something else. I seem to be surrounded by not as good/honest people. If this is testing me it's next level insanity. |
I think of how much evil is due to religious beliefs. I think the higher you fly your religious flag the more you need to hide.
Organized religion is the root of a lot of evil. |
iow, wait for heaven |
organized religion is made up by people. |
+1million. And maybe without people living for an "afterlife" or some other religious dogma, we would have evolved to care more about each other and our survival as a species. Either way....religion is definitely the root of a lot of evil. sometimes it is subtle and insidious in the ways it changes people and their behavior here in the one life we KNOW we have. |
So the op asked how Christians deal with every day evil; are you a Christian who believes organized religion is evil? |
I've known evil christians |
Ok- are you a Christian who has known evil Christians? Op asked for the opinion of Christians. If you want to post about a different topic (evil Christians) go right ahead. I’ve known evil Christians, evil Muslims, evil Jewish people, evil atheists, evil people who had all kinds of beliefs. There are lots of evil people of all beliefs and those who have no belief in the world. The atheists who were in charge of state run atheistic governments killed over 100 million of their own people within the 20th century. There are lots of evil people. |
What do you do when you find the helpers? |
I like to remember the words of John as we approach the dark days of advent:
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." The words of Isaiah and Matthew: "The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” The words of Christ: "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." |
