One child has 10 teachers and the other one has 11 teachers. It includes the classroom teacher and other teachers like art, PE, music and library. Do you give GC or gifts to all the teachers and what is the minimum amount that is decent too? |
Give what you are comfortable giving. The worst gifts I got were expensive cookies and expensive candles from different sets of overbearing parents. The best gifts I got over the years were heartfelt thanks, a book of puns related to a class I taught, and a $5 Starbucks gift card. |
I do $20-$25 per teacher.
In Elem I didn’t give to the specials teacher. Now kid is in MS and has 5 teachers. I’ll do $20 Target gift card to them all. They don’t want more stuff/clutter |
$100 per teacher. My kids are in preschool and elementary. Each kid has 1-2 teachers. No idea how I’ll handle middle and high school when we have dozens of teachers.
|
I do $100 per child, but my children’s school does a pool so it’s from the whole classroom. I greatly prefer this as I want to be generous (they do so much!) but don’t want to be seen as trying to curry favor. |
This year I got my kids teachers a gift boxe of Sugarfina candy (like a variety).. does this seem like a bad gift? I'm thinking maybe it is. : / |
It’s regiftable, so I think it’s fine. Unless it’s an ugly personalized mug or a book entitled “how to be a better teacher”, I think it is appreciated. I give a small token that is regiftable (baggu, blank notecards, etc) and a $25 gift card to Amazon or target for middle school and high school teachers. And I start writing the notes a few weeks in advance, so I can spend some time thinking about what to write. |
Nothing personalized. My MIL was a teacher and my kids had last name labelled items all through elementary. Nice idea, but there is no teacher that needs half a dozen mugs, water bottles, and lunch boxes per year. Based on my teacher friends, young teachers often have families of their own and likely aren't super high income, so generic gift cards (Amazon, Target, Visa, etc.) or a bigger store or restaurant they can combine with other gift cards and take their family is appreciated. My approach has always been to cover thoughtful with the note, and practical with the gift (card). |
0 Don't add more nonsense to your list, OP. |
In ES I gave the main teacher a $25 target gift card (for holiday and again for teacher appreciation) and the special’s teacher a $10 gift card (only once). In middle and high school, we gift boxes of chocolate at holidays and gift cards at teacher appreciation. |
I give $50 to the teacher and aide in the classroom. |
We give to the main teacher - generally a gift card and a bottle of nice wine. If our kids really like someone else at the school we give them wine too. But not every single specials teacher like gym, library, music, etc. |
Nothing. The exception is if my kid felt close to a teacher and specifically asked to give that person something.
I am a teacher and although gifts are appreciated, they really aren’t necessary. I’d rather have a nice email or card. |
I give the county limited maximum gift ($25) to the classroom teacher. |
$50 gift card to Target for the main teacher with a card. That's it. That's all they want and its easy for me. |
