Help! What is important to include? What is best left out? I am a first timer and have no idea what I'm doing. My second grader is super bright but hasn't mastered nuclear fusion quite yet.

Explain why they need services, what they're not getting or won't get in the regular classroom. Try to stay away from "bored" terminology. If you really must say something, reword it to be along the lines of needing to be challenged.

NP but how do you include examples of the kids' work if the school doesn't send anything home. Do I need to make up or find a "gifted" activity for my child to do?

We submitted work samples my kids created at home. Short stories they wrote, a description of a service project they completed and wrote up, random math problems they create and solve for fun.

What do these math problems they create and solve look like? Just curious what other math loving kids do for fun. Did it help with AAP application?

These were not complex math problems but it was clear the work produced was student driven and showed an interest in the subject, self-motivated learner and higher level of thinking.

No idea if it helped or not but both of my kids are in AAP so the samples didn’t hurt.
