Sister gave baby gift to dog

Anonymous
Recently went to Disney World. My little sister is pregnant with her first baby. I bought baby a "my first mickey" Disney world. Sister asked me to go check on her dog during my lunch break today, and found out that she gave the mickey to the dog. This seems silly, my feelings are hurt.

How do you know she gave it to the dog. My dog has stolen all kinds of crap from my kids' room; toys, shoes, slippers, underwear, socks, etc. Stuffed animals are his favorite thing to steal.

Are you sure she 'gave' it to the dog or did the dog steal it and chew it adn now it's de facto his?

You should have given the gift after the baby arrived.

Don’t buy her stuff if you’re going to be upset about it if she doesn’t use it or throws it away or gives it to the dog.

My dog takes anything within reach.

I had a friend who dog would steal and chew on my gifts to her - socks that she loved (from another country) were the proverbial straw. I stopped giving her any gifts besides chocolates (which are bad for dogs so hopefully she takes better care of hiding them from the dog than she does with socks).

Our dog is not allowed upstairs. The kids are not allowed to bring their plush toys downstairs.

Otherwise it would be Carnage In Plush World.

Did the dog appreciate it? That would be my main concern. Also, next time I would bypass the middlewoman and give gifts straight to the dog.

The dog very likely took it instead of her giving it to him. Now she doesn't want to give her baby a toy the dog has been chewing on.

I don't think OP's not yet born nibling brought the toy downstairs.

The dog probably enjoys it much more than the baby would.

Give her the benefit of the doubt and assume the dog took it. Before the arrival of a baby, dogs assume everything plush is theirs. You could either be miffed at your pregnant hormonal sister, or this could end up being a funny family anecdote. Your choice.

My dog loved squeek toys and even when I bought him a toy, he would hide his toy and steal baby's squeek toy.
