Squid Game: The Challenge - anyone watching?

Anonymous
I have not seen every episode of Squid Game. I saw bits and pieces of most when it came out and my kids were watching (older teens who are now in college). I didn't think it was a show I'd really enjoy.

Anyway, those kids were home for break and wanted to watch the new Squid Game reality show. I watched with them and I am hooked! What a fun show! It looks stressful as hell but super entertaining. Several of the contestants are on social media and have been sharing behind-the-scenes info on each of the games.

Yes, I'm watching. I've been alternating between entertained and bored, depending on the challenge (the battleship one was dull and went on far too long). Obviously the stakes are very different in the game v the show, but they've done a pretty good job.

Terribble show. Had to turn it off after 23 minutes in the first episode. Basically a product of the writers strike. Garbage reality TV that's cheap to produce quickly.

I think the editing made that one look pretty boring. The editing seems to be kind of terrible.

It was interesting to learn that during red light, green light, the room temperature was 24F. Also, the pause between moving and stopping was 30-45 minutes according to a few contestants. Knowing that explains why so many were running with their hands in their pockets and diving on the floor when the head started turning. It also makes sense why the chick who was crouching down couldn't hold it longer... the show editing made it look like 3 mins tops but it was really 45 mins. One contestant said that they eventually had to pause and let everyone move their legs because people started fainting. Another said that they started the game with everyone and quickly realized it was too many people so they split and did 4 smaller groups, which they never explained on the show. The first episode made it look like everyone went at the same time.

Because they anticipated the writers strike, duh.

They knew as early as 2022 to start prepping cheap reality content you don’t need writers for.

I've watched the first episode. Its not as good as the original so far, obviously there is no horror when you find out you might die (spolier alert!), so the fake death is distracting. Plus they already know the first couple challenges. Otherwise, its better than most reality shows.

I never watched Squid Games but my daughter did so we're watching. I find it pretty entertaining.

4.56 million is the biggest reality tv prize ever. i'd freeze my nips off for that kinda coin.

I was worried about this part. IMO they did a good job with the battleship one, but there was no real redeeming of the cookie one. They all knew the trick so it wasnt as good imo.

Other than that I'm still enjoying it, but I do feel like some people were either pre-selected or are just straight up actors to make it more interesting.

It’s down to the final 3!

Is that part of the game? To see how you can out perform others in the livable conditions. I am sure these producers know the risk and liabilities of people suing them. Look at the other reality shows. I'm sure Survivor has been sued many times.

I wish there had been more games to win/lose rather than players choosing who to eliminate quite so much.
I like how they handled the bridge crossing to make it more fair.
Looking forward to the last episode.
