Help needed with baby gift

Anonymous
I need to purchase a baby gift for someone who doesn’t have a registry and I don’t know personally (business associate of DH) What are some of the more desired baby items these days? I’m looking for a thoughtful gift for about $250 and not cash/GC. Thanks for any suggestions!

Can you get them a service, like a house cleaning or a week of a private chef? That seems like a lot to spend on a thing or things that they may not want/need.

Little Giraffe baby blanket and one or two cute outfits for 3-6 or 6-12 months age ranges. Can get all this from nordstroms

Baby Bjorn bouncer. Include a gift receipt

If they seem to have a spacious house, our favorite gift in that price range was a Nugget couch.

I would never spend that much, even on a close friend for a baby. My go-to baby gift is a book of five-minute stories that can be bought on Amazon.

+1 on the gift receipt. This is a nice gift if they don't already have it. Dock a tot could be another.

Nose Frida and other infant meds. When they need it they won’t want to run to cvs. Put it in a cute basket with a blanket.
Still not sure you can spend $250. Maybe throw in a food delivery gift card too.

If space is an issue, Pottery Barn Anywhere chair

Stroller accessories if they live somewhere cold. Bunting that’s big enough through the toddler years. Gloves for mom/dad. 7am Enfant is the Rolls Royce of accessories: https://www.7amenfant.com/collections/on-stroller

Informed parents would not be happy with Dock a Tot or any other unsafe sleep contraption, so it would be returned immediately. Some people say "I only use it when I can directly supervise," but it doesn't take long for a baby to roll into the padded sides.

Agree on:
- Dock a Tot
- Baby Bjorn Bouncer
- Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair

Also Lovevery play gym.

All things that I wanted and loved but was hesitant to buy or ask others for given the expense.

You are all missing the brief here. If OP and her DH are expected to spend $250 on a coworker they barely know, it means everyone involved is high level and wealthy. So they don’t want or need your Nose Frida or Pottery Barn stuff.

The Bjorn bouncer with gift receipt is a better idea. I personally might get them a LEVO rocker: https://us.charliecraneparis.com/categorie-produit/lucas-du-tertre/

You clearly don’t work in a profession where it’s common to give nice gifts. I work in finance, and it’s very common to give baby gifts of $250 or even more. A 5 minute story book that’s $7 at BJ's would be embarrassing.

this- would immediately get rid of dock a tot (and gave away all sorts of hand me down that are considered unsafe now like the bumbo seat or not flat bassinets). whatever you get- get a gift receipt so they can return it. loved our baby bjorn bouncer- also like our nugget and pbk chair
