I have a cabinet full of plastic storage containers of all sizes and shapes and lids. I have another shelf of glass circular Pyrex containers I use to store leftovers. The glass is heavy for kids to take to school in lunchboxes and not leak-free.
Basically I want to streamline my food storage so it's stackable and easy to find the matching lids. Please share your favorite food storage containers, plastic and glass. I may take advantage of "cyber Monday" to tame this seemingly "wild" corner of my life 😂 thanks! |
| I use the lunch bots metal containers for kids lunches. They have various shapes and sizes. U Konserve is another good brand. |
| I love rubbermaid brillance containers. |

For glass containers, we've been using ours for so long it appears that the product's has appearance has chnaged; with that caveat, these Ikea ones are the go-tos for the adults in our house: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ikea-365-food-container-with-lid-rectangular-glass-plastic-s89269071/#content
For the kids, we use either plastic containers with snap-and-lock lids and Stasher products. |

OP, I know you requested glass and plastic options.
Might you be open to silicone (some good bento box options) or metal (like an insulated tiffin setup)? |
+1000. Nothing compares to these. They don't stack as compactly as some options, but the tradeoff is worth it. Totally leakproof, fantastic in the microwave, and they never stain. |
Agree. This is the set I got last year on Black Friday, I love it. It's not on sale (on Amazon), but shop around. https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-2108377-Brilliance-14-Piece-Container/dp/B07X1TMQ34/ref=sr_1_5?hvadid=570437249400&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1018598&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=11537137520716216987&hvtargid=kwd-450223496381&hydadcr=28110_14512687&keywords=rubbermaid%2Bbrilliance%2Bsets&qid=1701099526&sr=8-5&th=1 |
NP, but good to know! My SIL brought some of these at Thanksgiving and they looked great. I noted they were Rubbbermaid, but she couldn’t remember what they were called. I have a bunch of Pyrex glass containers, but the plastic lids have all cracked over time or taken on weird food smells. |
I'm the +1000 pp above. I routinely store and microwave tomato sauces, curries, and other such items likely to stain or leave odors and they never do. Containers and lids both do beautifully in the dishwasher. |
