Middle School Grade Inflation at NYC Privates

For those of you at NYC privates… is middle school grade inflation a thing? We just started middle school at a private and we revived assessments last week. The comments didn’t seem to match what the assessments allegedly equaled. For instance, I was told by a parent that an assessment grade that I think is average at best is really an A. Work deemed less than best was really a B.

I’m so confused. Why would they do this? Why grade inflate? Does your private do this?
