Infertility Support and Discussion
Just wondering -- has anyone taken a break from TTC and found it made things (emotionally, mentally, even physically) better? Were you really able to not think about it and did you feel any more relaxed? I just don't think I can do this anymore but then can you really not do it? can you really not think about it?

I can't. I dissent even wait to try after my miscarriage 5 weeks ago, unfortunately didn't work this cycle.
For me it would be worse to wait. Good luck to you. |
I had to take a month off in June because I was out of town and could not be here for Day 3 BW. I have to say that not going to the Dr's office and worrying about meds for a month was more relaxing. Nonetheless, we were not successful in getting pregnant that month and started with IUI cycles this month. However, I think the break let me build up my strength again and made me more able to get back on the horse again, so to speak. It's hard to but I know we have to keep in mind that it is not a race.
We took a break from our natural TTC efforts and I am undergoing a natural cycle IVF. For some reason I feel more relaxed going through this type of IVF than when we were trying on our own. If this IVF fails, we are definitely going to take time off and go on a long "busy" vacation when I don't have to think about anything, but what places to go see, where to eat, etc.
We took a break after a few clomid/progesterone cycles. I stopped charting, stopped timing intercourse, etc... We didn't get pregnant then, but we didn't expect to. It was good to have a break. After 3 months we sat down and discussed next steps, made a few appointments and decided how to move forward. I felt a little burnt out before the break and I think it was good for us. I think it helped us to have the energy to start seeing specialists, acupuncturists, etc...
taking a break was the best thing for me and my husband. it gave my body time to clear the drugs from my system. we relaxed, took a few trips, visited with our therapists, switched clinics, and got out BFP after numerous failed back to back attempts.
I took one month breaks between my 2nd and 3rd IVFs and my 3rd and 4th IVFs. I highly recommend a month off between cycles. Getting 2 BFNs from my first two back to back cycles was brutal. It was just too much bad news too close together. I also did 3 IUIs back to back before that and that was also pretty tough. I think longer breaks would have been hard for me, but a month off gave me time to get some emotional strength back.
