I feel like a gigantic stuffed Turkey-warning graphic

I am so bloated like a balloon

My stomach is sticking out and I have perpetual gas

I burp and fart and it’s like I’m a helium tank and I get only a second or two of relief before it’s like my stomach immediately reinflates

I have tried gas-X, fasting for a day (seemed to make it worse), eating frequently (seemed to make no difference), eating a big meal (lol thanksgiving-thought maybe I could push it down?), exercising, drinking a ton of water, magnetism, Zantac, probiotics, and even a round of Prilosec.

It’s been 5 days. Any theories on what this is? How do I make it better???

I’m not constipated and pooping normally.

Underlying medical problem. Go see your doctor.

It's been 5 days. You cannot say the things you tried don't work. Probiotics, for example, take a long time to settle in and help. Same for magnesium, etc.

Have you been eating something you didn't use to eat? Maybe your body can't handle it. Have you been ingesting a lot more fiber than normal, or different fiber? I can't tolerate beans, or too much onions, for example.

If you're not in pain and your bowel movements are normal, you will want to eat less fiber, of the kind that you know you ate before without ill effects, and see what happens. If that doesn't work, consult a doctor.

Have you changed anything in your diet? More fiber? More cruciferous veggies? Lots of carbonated beverages?

Sorry, I meant SIBO!

Also, you need to be specific. Your (lower) belly is sticking out? That's common with fluid retention during the second part of women's hormonal cycles, it's common in pregnancy, but it could also be caused by GI issues. Stomach is higher up. Different organs, different problems. When you say your stomach reinflates, where do you feel that sensation?

Op here. Stomach. Not lower belly, not female related.

I haven’t changed anything with my diet.

The only thing that’s been different is I’m under extreme stress right now (the most I’ve ever been under in my life), and I think I might be having an issue with stomach acid. When I eat it feels like the food is just sitting there and I also have reflux. Like my stomach is so full that the food is getting pushed up. But also like it’s just not getting digested. I feel this way for like 10 hours after eating a meal.

It is quite painful/uncomfortable-like gas pains and I can’t get any relief. I’ve been doing yoga specifically to relieve gas pains and it helps for a moment but like I said, I just reinflate like a ballon.

Op here. No dietary changes. I am in pain-like gas pain/pressure. It’s been very uncomfortable.

This is something I’ve had for at least 15 years, intermittently. I’ve tested positive for methane sibo but it comes back even after treatment (google functional dyspepsia which is an umbrella term ). Hopefully you can get past this. When im in a flare (and stress is a trigger) I eat very little, drink ginger and mint teas, get mild exercise and take motility pro. For your current symptoms try FD guard which you can get at cvs and try a motility activator (not a laxative) to get bowels moving…

I try to keep things at bay with small meals (like never more than a half sandwich; maybe a half an entre etc); and desist at away from high fat or super fibrous foods; eating and drinking slowly, warm water instead of cold; prebiotic fiber (not probiotic which can make things worse if it’s sibo); and a diet with low fodmaps.

Even with precautions I cannot eat big meals or I’ll pay: like I am today. Had one helping of all the foods yesterday but. I thing excessive and I was up all night burping, many times an hour and it’s gone on all day. I’ve fasted all day except tea and I still feel full. Also sit up after eating and do not eat less than : hours bed bed. Gentle foods right now.try low fodmap and see how you feel.

OK, thanks for clarifying. You need to consult your doctor, get treated for the reflux, then do additional exams as needed. Obviously as soon as it's feasible for you, try to get out of whatever's causing you stress, but I understand that may not be up to you.

How to do stay at a healthy weight in that situation? Seems like you'd lose a lot of weight...

Well I’m short and definitely not overweight and I do lose weight when I’m in a flare but I will have months symptom free and I love fine cuisine abd will eat delicious food in small portions when I’m feelin good. When I’m not I do try for a smoothie and rice and eggs so I’m not starving (unless recovering from thanksgiving where I really need to give it a break). I also have a slow metabolism (maybe due to not eating a lot) so can maintain my weight anyway on 1200 -1400 cal/day (and I don’t get hungry when I’m in a flare anyway). I no longer exercise vigorously but I think that would suffer. I have another gi appointment soon to look at delayed gastric emptying which can be caused by damage to nerves….

To the op I think the stress may be a trigger. Be careful with ppi meds which can make things worse if it’s not actually reflux (we need acid to digest our food).try fd guard before meals and see if that helps.
