Rumor:
“OpenAI believes that AGI could surpass humans in most tasks, which also makes it highly dangerous, as it can limit options for what the global population can do to attain livelihood, though the consequences may reach a whole new scale. Given near-limitless resources, the new AGI model was able to solve certain math problems, and though these problems were the equivalent of grade-level students, acing them made OpenAI’s researchers highly optimistic about Q*’s future.

Currently, AI cannot solve math problems reliably, which is where the advantage of AGI comes in. The report further states researchers believe that in solving math problems, there is only one correct answer, and if AI can scale this obstacle, it is considered a massive milestone. Once AI can consistently solve math problems, it can make decisions that resemble human intelligence while also working on scientific research.“

While OpenAI acknowledges the immense potential of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) in surpassing human abilities in many areas, it's crucial to understand that this technology is still evolving. The assertion that AGI can solve math problems on par with grade-level students might be a bit over-extended at this stage; current AI systems are advancing in many fields, yet solving math problems with consistent accuracy is a complex challenge. The prospect of AI contributing to scientific research and decision-making is indeed exciting. However, it's vital to consider the ethical and societal ramifications of such advancements. OpenAI remains committed to the responsible development of AI, with a focus on the broader implications for humanity.

Oh no, he had TONS of conflicts. He was trying to make money left and right on technologies related to OpenAI.

Yes he was soliciting soft bank to form a chip startup to sell to OpenAI.

But really he was just to VC for the OpenAI nonprofit. He needs to be at regular startup where self dealing is par for course.

They have to solve the enormous cost problem first. And they aren’t anywhere near that.
