If one person takes way longer to eat…

Can the others be excused? In our case, it’s DH. He is the slowest eater on the planet. The kids and I are long done. We usually get up after the other 3 is us have finished. Is this bad? Not at like a formal or extended family dinner or anything like that, just a typical night.

We do this for day to day family meals, yes. If we have guests or it is a special occasion or holiday etc, then no.

Yes, it’s fine. My son has low processing speed. He takes an eternity for everything.

my husband eats too much and takes too long and is a loud eater. I leave him to start washing dishes and my kids sit around for a bit but are then excused.

My DH takes forever as well. The kids can be excused but I feel bad leaving him to sit and finish his meal alone. But it makes me nuts.

Argggggh!

Do you find him attractive? This would be such a turnoff.

Yes! Especially if your kids are younger than teens.

We have a rule that you can get up after you finish, but you have to take your plate to the kitchen and do something quiet so you don't disturb others.
