In years past, there was mention of a math in this class in the first quarter that many kids struggled with. Anyone know what it was or know if there is a curriculum somewhere? |
The teacher is apparently difficult. |
"a math"? |
A math topic |
This sounds like gossip. Many kids struggle with many math topics many times. |
How so? |
I posted something similar in another entry, but people don't want to share it seems. |
There is more than one teacher that teaches it. |
Hi Op,
Get tutoring ASAP for your child, we waited, but didn't not get better. The teacher was hard, the pop quiz was difficult due to anxiety issues, I think the teacher calls students out or something like that. This was many years ago! Final exam was very difficult and child end up with a B-only with tutoring the last two months of the school year! We should have gotten help like in January 2nd! Try not to wait ... |
PP again, teacher was a tough ass! Maybe one of the best math guys, but his style was definitely difficult for my kid. So a blessing in disguise, otherwise, we may not have gotten him help. The tutoring gave him a tool and better equipped for future study habits I think. |
Do you remember the tutor you used, or the tutoring service? |
The number of posters who had kids at Longfellow is probably not that high to begin with, and even a year later, you may not remember the details. For instance, my DD is at a different middle school, taking Geometry this year. I don't really remember what the previous year's units were that she had trouble with, and I wouldn't respond to this even if I did, because her experience at a different MS is likely not relevant here. If anyone wants to know what the problematic units in Geometry are, I would unhesitatingly say that it's Unit 2 (Logic) and Unit 3 (Start of proofs with lines). Unit 4 (triangle proofs) has been easy, now that she knows how to think about proofs. |
