Trampoline

Thinking of buying a trampoline for my kids (ages 5 and 3). For those who have one, do you get a lot of use out of it? Any recommendations on which to buy? TIA!

Make sure you get the netting that goes around it. Teach them to zip the netting or you do it. We got tons of use when she was 6. At 10 it gets less.

Ask your insurance company how much your insurance will go up if you get one. Also, get at least a few million umbrella policy. They are super dangerous op. I know a radiologist who will never let his kids on them and I can think of at least three kids who have broken their legs on them plus one adult who almost died from a trampoline injury.

We snagged a nice one from a. Neighbor who outgrew it. My kids love it, when we have get togethers the kids love it too.

Also, they are dangerous. We enforce rules like limiting number of kids on, only little kids or only big kids, no flips, and parents who come to parties presumably have no issues with their kids on it.

We also have an umbrella policy and each of my spouse and I have climbed on to grab kids (ours and guests too) and escort them off, when they are not following the rules.

You have to monitor bc a group of kids gets rowdy quick.

Our pediatrician and orthopedic surgeon said no way.

My kids are pretty risk-averse, so they don't do any crazy tricks on the trampoline. They have gotten years of use when friends come over. The summer is especially fun - we put a sprinkler underneath and the water shoots up through the trampoline bottom while they jump. Its all giggles.

Nope, my BFF works in a PICU. She's seen too many spinal injuries from trampolines.

A kid can break a leg by landing the wrong way.

Our kids have gotten tons of use out of it. The rule is only one kid can jump at a time (though other kids can be waiting for their turn inside the netting on the "sideline"), and if other people are waiting each jumper gets 30 seconds. It keeps things moving along.

When they were little they'd jump to get their energy out, and by the time they were teens they'd have sleepovers on the trampoline in summers.

Yes we love ours. The kids have used it almost every day for YEARS. their friends love coming over to jump in it also. Spring free is the way to go.
