I reviewed the holiday gift ideas on the teens thread, and they are geared towards high schoolers (age 14, 15, etc). I have a college aged son and would love gift ideas for him. He's almost 19, and a freshman at a cold weather college. He's not very into clothes but I think warm jacket, gloves and boots might be in order, and was also thinking some kind of fleece/pullover that he could wear out at night that doubles as a jacket. Again he's very basic with clothing styles, if anything leans slightly preppy but slightly being an important modifier. I'd love non-clothing ideas, too, and for any clothing ideas, links or at least brands would be helpful. Thanks!
I have his younger sister covered both from her own vocal wish list and the gift ideas on the teens thread

Other than the things he specifically asked for, my son's most-used gift from freshman year xmas is an expandable rolling duffle for weekend or longer trips home. It expands to hold a hamper's worth of dirty laundry https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BB625B2C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

I have similar-aged kids, and the college son has always been difficult to shop for - he never wants anything. I was also thinking about much needed clothing, for internships/interviews, and maybe extra stuff for his dorm.
High schooler DD always comes up with a detailed list, so no problems there

| Thank you, OP. I was hoping someone would start this thread, especially for freshman boys. I will probably get some warm weather clothes including a beanie hat from the school bookstore and maybe some colder weather running gear. I like experience gifts, but that’s seems much harder at this age. Any other suggestions - including specific winter clothing recommendations - are welcome! |
