ECNL Tryout Rules

Anonymous
Does anyone know if there is a rule prohibiting a current ecnl player from “trying out” for another ECNL club during the season? I vaguely remember an OP told me a player can’t tryout until April 1 of next year? Thanks.

Different dates for MD and VA. I believe VA is March 1 and MD is May 1 but please double check.

You cannot tryout mid season. U can ask for a transfer if the clubs agree. Otherwise it’s against the ECNL rule.

So if you are switching from MD to VA or VA to MD which date do you follow?

Yes. Your own club. You signed an agreement.

See link for ENCL rules https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-NdLhy6yTgRJrXKs8evae4c84mwtfFm17IJmgdjZXOk/edit

Search for: tryouts, transfer, recruiting, etc. Also review Exhibit C for VA specific tryout detail.

And also keep in mind it is incumbent on the clubs to follow the rules. Would you want your player to join one that bent/broke them?
