Auto body - fixing dings

Anonymous

Have a body shop that could maybe fix dings, easily at a nicer price.

I am thinking of the use of suction to attempt to pull out the metal.

Car is not worth much but DH wants it fixed. I'd like to try the cheap way first.

If it’s a small shop, get the estimate, then ask for a cash discount.

The suction devices work sometimes, other times they don’t. The thinner the sheet metal the better they work - so they tend to work best on newer cars. Older cars much less do.

Also, a cheap set of body spoons found on Amazon can let you push most small simple dings out from the back side if you can remove the trim to access the spot on the backside of the ding.

It’s tedious work for very little practical return other than aesthetics. Emphasis on tedious. That’s why it costs $125/hr shop time.
