| Are the dates of finals set in stone? My daughter has nothing from Nov. 30 - Dec. 11. We live far away and are trying to figure out the logistics. Have any of your students successfully been able to advocate for a different date? |
| She can ask the prof. |
| Uh, no. There are usually very proscribed days and times during finals period for each class so there are no conflicts. The professor didn’t pick the day and time. |
| Just who do you think you are? |
|
No. The dates are set by the school. She needs to look at exam dates when choosing classes and choose exams at teh beginning of exams or choose classes with final papers.
-Professor. |
| OP you cannot be serious. |
|
WTF. Most DCUM question ever.
How is someone’s anecdote of what their kid did going to help you? This varies by college and even professor. Do you think your kid is the only one OOS. You plan around the set dates and change plans if need be. |

"Nothing", as in, it's finals studying time, and she has a dorm, study areas and dining halls, all prepaid by you. She can even socialize. What's wrong with that? |
| ask |
What are you talking about? This situation has been happening since the beginning of time. |
| OP here. Thank you! There are more serious reasons for my request that I didn't want to go into (chronic health issues) but I get it. I love this forum so I can ask stupid questions anonymously 🤣. |
If there is a chronic health issue then your kid can talk to the professor ahead of time and see if arrangements can be made. I was in the hospital for one final during college and I was given a time to make it up. What chronic health issues would have conflicts that far in advance. Like having a medical procedure? |
This. I factored in exam dates in both college and law school. |
