WES HS Exmissions

I have observed a fair number of WES graduates heading off to public HS, particularly BCC.

I know each case is different, but would this generally be attributed to an inability of WES to place these kids at a top notch private HS, or is this more attributable to the growing strength and reputation at BCC?

I know someone who got into a good private from WES, and the parents had tuition fatigue, so they chose Whitman.

A number of Bethesda/Chevy Chase families choose WES because -- whether right or wrong -- the perception seems to be that between an excellent elementary school cluster (Bethesda Elementary/Chevy Chase Elementary) and excellent high school (BCC), the middle school (Westland) is woefully inadequate and continues to be plagued by various problems (from achievement, to discpline, to quality of teachers).

Once the WES families are out of the middle school woods, they feel much more comfortable venturing back into the public school world and enrolling in what various surveys have shown is one of the top high schools in the nation, let alone the DC area.

OP, if you are from DC, keep in mind that MC families have a lot more choices and are less reluctant to use public school.
