Is this pink eye?

Anonymous
Wed or Thu - kid started coughing
over weekend - more coughing and dark mucus... maybe more at night?
Mon - one eye a bit red, goopy discharge, still mucus/cough
Tue - same eye has the eyelid a bit puffy, still mucus/cough

I am hoping for a dr appointment today, but does this sound like pink eye or something else?

No fever and everything else seems the same.

Is your child on allergy medicine? If not, I'd try some zrytec and see if that helps.

Adenovirus.

It doesn't seem like allergy because of the dark mucus. Or maybe allergies and something else.

Would going to the ped help in this case?

We just dealt with it at home, but if there’s a chance it could be bacterial pink eye you might want to pick up some antibiotics from the ped.

Did you get it too? I am taking care of DS at home, but afraid I've already gotten the germs and am about to get sick. I am supposed to host a big Thanksgiving this year!

Once I was in a terrible cold and my eye suddenly became like op’s kid’s. I went to eye doctor and was told wasn’t pink eye nor infection, my eyes returned to normal in 1-2 days.

Colds can cause sticky mucus in the eyes--especially kids who wipe their noses with their hand and then touch their eyes.

However if you’re concerned just go see a doctor, since it could be something different.
