If you had one - do you still have it?
I keep debating whether I use mine enough to justify the expense. I prefer to mostly exercise outdoors, but I occasionally need an indoor exercise option and use the Peloton only for those times - which is also more frequent in the winter. |
It sounds like you should focus on your particular situation and use and determine if paying $40+ per month is worth it to you even if you only use it a handful of times in the winter months.
We were late to the Peloton bandwagon and bought our bike just over two years ago. I ride usually 3-4 days a week and do 8-10 strength classes weekly as well. Some days I run or walk outside and don't use the bike/app those days. But I clearly use it enough to justify the monthly expense for me (way cheaper than a gym membership and more convenient). |
I also prefer to exercise outside. I’ve started using the bodyweight strength classes outside on my phone as part of a run. (run to destination, workout using phone, run back). Sometimes with a friend.
The cardio classes are also great. In our household we use the classes almost daily and the bike maybe once a week. I would explore beyond the bike classes before deciding on keeping it or not. |
Yes - DH uses it every day so it's worth it for us to keep it. In your case if you're debating it and indicated that you prefer to exercise outdoors and would only use your Peloton occasionally then consider selling it. Perhaps disable your $40 membership before you sell to see if you miss the content in the Peloton library, or not.

I’ve had mine for 5 years and primarily use it in the winter. It’s worth it to me, but I’m willing to skimp in other areas and spend on health and wellness. I agree with above PP, try deactivating the membership for a month or two and see if you miss it. |
The subscription fee is $44/month. I wonder if that effects buyers willingness to keep it. Have you paid yours off OP? |
Yes. I hate exercising outside and have been an “indoor exerciser” since college. |
Yes, and I like outdoor exercise too and am often listening to an outdoor run. |
I do not have a peloton, but I do have an iFit membership with my treadmill. So very similar but just a different membership. And the answer is it depends on how much you use it or plan to use it as it does add up and if you're not using it, it's just sinking money into something you're not using. Like you, I prefer to exercise outside, however, it has been very handy to have exercise equipment in my basement on days when I am unable to exercise outside. If it's too cold, rainy, snowy, etc. I'd like to be able to still exercise. I used to be a member of a gym but I quit it during Covid which is when we bought our gym equipment in the basement and I do use my equipment not every day, but as needed |
I had two. I got rid of my DC one, as there is no reason to take up the space and I would rather choose almost any other activity. I'm holding off on a decision about my other one, as it is more remote and I'm concerned about snow preventing all outdoor activities. But I'm a step and a half out the door. |
I never use the bike but DH does occasionally. I do use peloton strength training and outdoor runs and walks on the app daily |
I pause my account in the summer and use it in the winter. |
We just got a used one (used market is strong, so lots of people giving them up!)
Love it. My husband and I use it at least 3 days a week each; I like having an indoor cardio option, and knew I didn't want a treadmill or elliptical. I otherwise do youtube HIIT/weights workouts. |
I use my account all the time for strength and stretching classes, but never the bike. We got the Peloton treadmill as well and I use that several days a week. DH won't get ride of the bike, even though he too only uses the treadmill. |
I was very late - I got the bike in August and use it 6x per week. I do several strength and Pilates workouts per week, too, so totally worth $44. I hate real bikes and exercising outdoors in general.
DH doesn't use it but instead chooses to pay $800+/month to see a trainer 2x per week and then does nothing the other 5 days. |
