I just outsourced some of the easiest parts of Thanksgiving and I feel great about it

Mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, rolls -- I've been making them for decades, but not this year. I couldn't find anything close enough to the versions of the other sides and desserts I make, and I'm happy to shove a turkey in the oven, but I am already looking forward to having a few free hours in the days before Thanksgiving.

What will I do with them? Nap? Read a novel? Nap, then read a novel? WHO CAN SAY?

PS Don't tell my mom

Cheers to you, OP! I did the opposite: I committed to making four sides, and told my husband he’s in charge of buying or making the turkey. I told him he could also do just a breast and some legs or whatever if he doesn’t want to deal with the whole bird. He’s making at least two pies as well, and people can show up with whatever, I don’t care. I’m covered with my favorite sides and I’m not concerned about what else does or does not show up on the table.

People have benefitted from my full-deal hospitality for years, and if they don’t like my downshift, they can step up and host for once.

Sounds awesome! Too many people make too big of a fuss, anyway. Just focus on enjoying some food and some time together.

As you should. Thanksgiving in my family was always mostly a potluck and family sharing recipes and time in the kitchen together. Not some one woman magic show

We always hire a yoga instructor the morning of Thanksgiving and some guests come early and we do a group yoga class. That's what we do with our morning. It's a 75 minute class, and then I spend about 45 minutes showering and getting dressed.
