Cactus Cantina on Wisconsin Ave. going downhill

Disappointed in our last experience at the restaurant. We heard the chef they had left to work at another restaurant. So whoever is cooking now changed recipes and the quality, and quantity of food isn’t the same. Tasteless rice. Fajitas for two people that had one four tiny strips of chicken. Broccoli in the fajita vegetable mix. The flour tortillas aren’t even the same recipie and taste like uncooked flour. No “Masitas de Puerco’ platter that so many people loved. No special order of “tostones”. The servings are smaller. The food is bland and tasteless. The menu is so slimmed down that there isn’t much choice anymore and they eliminated a lot of favorite plates.

This place use to be a staple and reliable, flavorful food. We won’t go there anymore. It’s not worth the money. Whatever adjustments they made with the exit of the old chef, were the wrong things.

Goodbye Cactus Cantina.

I went downhill years ago. Totally lost its mojo. Ripping people off now.

Same with uncle Julio’s.

Come join the Guapos family!

(I just went back to Guapos in Bethesda for the first time in a while and there have been some changes but it was still good)

They suck too. Their chili rellanos tasted frozen, not home made.

I feel like they have changed up their tortillas, chips and rice. All a little different now. Not in a good way.

We hadn’t been there for a decade but were there last week and I liked their chile rellenos. They aren’t as good as my husband’s homemade ones, but good

In terms of increased prices, pretty much every restaurant around has increased prices so I'm not sure that's something to really call out. I've been going to Cactus regularly for 15 years, and was there only a couple of weeks ago. Everything seemed/tasted like it always has.

Oh wow! Didnt know

The chips and salsa are still amazing.

The beef tacos are different though I noticed. Not bad different, just different.

Agree. We haven’t noticed any significant changes.

I have been going to Cactus Cantina for 25 years and it has gone downhill. Portions are much smaller and the prices are outrageous. It’s noticeably not the same. A different chef makes sense.

We would go there just for the margarita, chips and queso.

Guapos is disgusting. Inedible.

I haven't been there in years but always preferred them over Guapo's when I lived nearby. Broccoli in the fajita veggies is hilarious though. What a terrible choice.
