| Do soccer coaches usually get a team gift at the end of EACH season? In other words, should I get a gift for our travel coach for Fall Season, then another one for Spring Season? Thanks for the feedback! |
| We generally did a team holiday gift every year. The end of year gift may be optional. A couple years someone organized it, another year everyone was over the season and no one organized it or spoke up. Other teams I know did both. |
| Yes, we do it at the end of each season (elementary school). |
| Yes, at the end of each season, a parent, not the manager, should organize a collection and get the coach a gift card |
| I’m organizing a coaches gift for a team of 13. I am going to ask each family to contribute $15 towards a $200 gift card. Is that okay? I don’t want to make it to steep (although I think families can afford more, but don’t know everyone’s situation), but don’t want to appear cheap. What do most people usually contribute? This is just mid-season/holiday gift. It’s a travel team so they will continue together in the spring too (age 10). |
that's what we do... each family $10-15 and some might opt for more. a nice gift card along with a holiday card for the coach at the end of the year. |
| All teams are different. Some give an end of fall and end of spring gift. Some give just one gift at the end of spring. My team gives a small holiday gift then an end of season spring gift. |
| Once you get to the travel level no gifts. Coaches are getting paid. |
Getting paid a pittance. We do cash gift as a team twice a year. |
|
We do $250 gift card for the end of fall season and also spring season. It's roughly 10-15 per family.
the club puts a limit on how much gift a team can give. Sure they are paid but its not that much and these coaches spend more time with my kid than many of the teachers... |
| Only those kissing up to the coach will give gifts. |
We’re paying $2400 per kid to the club for this sh*show and scam that is American youth soccer. I do want to give the coaches a gift but it’d be easier to parse that if my older kid got more playing time and my younger kid wasn’t playing goalie (which she hates) half the time. So for those reasons, I’m out. Sucks! |
|
I give everyone that teaches my kids a Christmas gift. So for coaches, I plan to give gift cards but anonymously so they won’t treat my kids differently.
|
|
I have done both, if a parent organizes we’ll contribute and when no one organizes, a small gift for the coach/assistant coach.
Not buttering up for playtime since ours is not travel and everyone gets to play equally. Just an appreciation for all their hard work! |
Sounds like you haven't had that honest conversation with coach about why your kids are on bench and between the sticks. Not many coaches will swallow their ego and leave their better players on bench for no good reason. |
