I am the opposite of a car person. I want something reliable that doesn’t feel like a tank (but I like being higher up vs a sedan) and I have two little kids.
My current Lexus is 15 years old and has been reliable and comfortable- but is beginning to have some issues. (I hate car shopping so will drive my cars into the ground) I am considering another Lexus hybrid (either RX or new TX), Tesla X or Y, or maybe the Ionic? Strong preference for electric or plug in hybrid. I will never own a highlander because they make both my daughter and me carsick. I deeply don’t want a minivan but also am open to the practicality of one. What would you buy? What am I not considering that I should? |

I’m confused why a Highlander makes you sick. I get car sick in all cars depending on how the driver is driving, but we own a Highlander and I’m completely fine if I’m the one driving.
Either way, all those cars sound fine and are safe. Why don’t you test drive all of them and see what you like the best? |
| Highly recommend Volvo. I have the midsize SUV - XC60 and am very happy with it. I have driven Acuras and a Lexus and this is my favorite. I did have a mini van when my kids were young and it was super convenient. |
| Just get another Lexus. You are familiar with them and happy. Why change?? |
I am not OP. I wanted to get new Lexus RX but its front is so ugly that I just can’t . Lexus car designers seem like they are amateurs designing cartoon characters |
That is your opinion. I like the newer design over the older one. The good thing is people have choices |
| How about the Volkswagen Atlas, a lot of couples with young kids drive them. Very reliable, comfortable, good handling. I have the Tiguan because I don’t have kids and I’ve been very pleased, has been way more reliable than my Audi q5 was and gets decent gas mileage and it’s a turbo! |
+1 for Volvo We just bought a 2024 XC90 Ultimate Recharge and have zero complaints. |
