My DD is getting her license and it is finally time for a second car in the family.
We have a 10yo Sienna that we'll keep for long hauls and piling the whole family in as needed. I'm looking for a a four-door sedan to use primarily for commuting. Budget is up to 40K. I'm not looking for luxury, but do want a comfortable interior. What is the best value for safe, reliable, that will last a while? (And does it make sense to get a hybrid or electric at this point?) |
| Chevy Malibu |
| Accord or Camry if you want something larger. Celica or Corolla is you want something smaller. |
| Get a used Prius. Low cost of ownership, good safety features, reliable, sips gas sparingly. |
| Get a Forester. |
+1. But I think pp meant Civic (not Celica). You can't go wrong with them. |
| Second the votes for Honda Accord |
| If you don't plan to park on the street near or in DC, Camry or Accord. They get wheel-jacked quite often. |
| Mazda 3 |
| Love my Corolla. My mom has a Camry and I find it too much—unfeasibly big, less-good backup camera, hard to park. But it does have a very comfortable interior if you have tall people or regularly need to seat adults in the back seat. Barring those factors I'd say Corolla all the way. |
| Charger. With a Hemi. |
That's ... not a sedan. |
